Originally in 2006 The D.O.V.E. Fund funded a school with 2 classrooms and a "water closet" for Ai Tu village. The school was so successful that in 2009 we approved an addition to add more room for pre-kindergarten students and a kitchen. This addition is pictured here in the foreground. Today was to be our official dedication for this newly expanded facility.
The children try to be on their best behavior and attentive as we conduct our dedication ceremony.
What a blessing that these sweet youngsters have such a wonderful facility at which to start their education. With the addition of a kitchen, this now qualifies as a "day care" providing a hot lunch so the children do not have to travel home for the mid-day meal. This keeps their parents in the fields working to better support their families.
This school holds addition significance in that it sits on a former landing strip built by the US Marines 40 years ago.
