It was a damp, cloudy day with a forecast of rain. Arriving at the school, we found that they were well prepared with a covered area set up for our dedication ceremony.
This was a bittersweet event with the widow and son of Lanny Saumer present for the dedication. Lanny had successfully rallied his students at Meyer Middle school to raise funds for this project. But alas, Lanny died in late 2009 unable to see the completion of his dream.
There were the usual performances by the children and comments by the officials and school principal. Most moving was when Karen and Brandon Saumers spoke of Lanny's dream and gave their pledge to continue to provide support to the school and its faculty.
